Was your Travco custom made?
Leo Eilts sends us these photos of
his Travco's "custom made" name plates. He writes:
I have something on my Travco that I've never heard anyone
else mention so far: There are two plates fastened to the vehicle that indicate
it may have been custom-ordered. On the dash on the passenger side is a small
plate that reads "Built by Travco for A.R. Wilson". I guess his wife
got after him, because the plate next to the door, on the outside just under the
light, is a second plate that reads "Built by Travco for Mr. & Mrs. A.R.
Wilson".
Have you ever heard of these plates before? I've left them
on, because I think they're kind of cool. Anyway, this might explain some
things about my Travco that I've wondered about before. I think that the veneer
on my cabinets is the "Teak" veneer I've seen referred to as an
option. It's also got a lot of other features that were referred to as options
in the literature.

Apparently, the name plate is misleading. Steve Polk sent
this picture and writes:
Hey about that dash plaque discussion in the forum, I can
e-mail you a picture that may support my theory that the plaque was a reward for
sending in the warranty card and not to mean the Travco was custom made, (which
is what the plaque may say). My dash has a sticker on it that states....... oh
well let me attach the picture.

The webmaster has since found that Travco Corp. placed these
name plates in their models for a few years. Some even had the name plate
indicating "Custom made by Travco Corp." It would appear that
the plate was added to the completed model, only to be personalized through your
warranty registration.
