  • Q.  My display resolution isn't 800 x 600.  How can I fix it?

    • A.    Our web site was developed using a display resolution of 800x600.  Many computers, especially ones a few years old, have a default display resolution of 640x480.  At one time, that was the standard.  You can change your resolution settings easily.  It has no effect on your programs.  Click the START button, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL.  Now select DISPLAY.  In the DISPLAY window, select the SETTINGS tab.  On the bottom right, you will see a slide bar with your current resolution settings under it.  Click and drag the bar to the right to increase your resolution.  The higher you go, the better the resolution, however, as you will see, items on the screen progressively get smaller.  We use the 800x600 setting.  Click APPLY and the screen will reset to the new setting.

  • Q.  There are items that don't show on my screen, but I can tell something is supported to be there.  Is something wrong with my computer or the web site?

    • No.  Unfortunately, there isn't a set standard of web sites and software for the world wide web.  Some of us use Microsoft Internet Explorer as our web browser.  Others use Netscape Navigator.  In many cases, the way the sites "looks" to us is different.  Web sites use programs called applets or javascript.  These allow us to do some fancy web site programming.  In many cases, these programs are not compatible with Netscape.  If you are not satisfied with what you see (or don't see), I suggest you switch your browser to Microsoft Internet Explorer.  It is free for download.  You can return to the myTravco.com homepage and click the Internet Explorer icon below the left column of buttons.  This will take you to a page where you may download and install Internet Explorer.

  • Q.  My screen is slow to load.  Can this be helped?

    • A.    Our web site is packed full of pictures and graphics to make it more appealing to you.  The more of these a web site has, the longer it takes to load.  It's a question of "did we want to be efficient or effective?"  With computer speeds increasing daily and the ready access to internet connections much faster than a dial-up modem, we chose the "effective" route.  If you are using a dial-up modem, you are well aware that your internet speed it dictated by the amount of internet traffic.  We have no control over that.

  • Q.  The pictures on the slide show seem to be cut off.  What gives?

    • A.    The slide show takes a number of pictures and "fits" them into the window pane given.  For our purposes, the pictures are actually bigger than that pane, so the web page centers the picture and what shows in the slide show is that area in the center of the picture.  Sorry, but the only way to control that is to make the window pane larger.  For this site, a larger pane "doesn't fit" our web plan.

  • Q.  Some of the LINKS don't go anywhere.  I get a "page not found" message.  Didn't you check them out?

    • A.  Well, I usually check out the LINKS but sometimes I do make mistakes.  There is another answer.  Web sites and web host providers (the folks who put those sites out on the web) have "down time."  That means they are making site changes or host account changes or any number of things.  It's that, or the site that was good is no longer available.

  • Q.  Why does the ABOUT page seem like a copy of lots of things on the web site?

    • A.  The internet has lots of programs that go "sniff out" web sites to add to different search engines.  There are, at present, about 40,000 search engines!  To get information, these programs that they send out onto the world wide web are called "spiders."  These spider programs search for particular things, such as site descriptions, or email lists, or... an ABOUT page.  Those that check for an ABOUT page use it to fill in the short description of a site that you see in the search engine results.  Therefore, our ABOUT page is made to make sure my.Travco.com is included in as many search engines as possible, and (the important part) that it states what we want it to about the site. And now you know.

  • Q.  Not every Manual and Brochure included on myTravco.com is listed on the Manuals & Brochures page.  Why not?

    • A.  Simple answer.   The webmaster forgot to update the Manuals & Brochures page after every addition to the web site.  Many of our manuals and brochures are included on other pages along with other information.  These may or may not appear in the Manuals & Brochures page.  Within reason, I try to group the information by logical association, however, a good number of items could fall into several categories.  Just hunt around and enjoy the other interesting stuff you'll pick up during your search.  If you want to use the SEARCH feature (located under the page heading), try omitting the year from your search value since many documents apply to a number of different years.  In other words, don't search for "1975 Operator's Manual" since the 1974 Operator's Manual will be about the same thing.

  •   Q.  I can't see all the posts on the Forums.  I know there are more.

    • A.  The Forums pages are a series of forums, each containing its own set of discussion topics.  The "myTravco.com Forums" is a software product.  A default of that product is to display the last two weeks of forum activity.  Whenever you see a topic, your first view of the last two weeks worth of posts.  To see more, click on the desired forum.   The topics under the forum will be displayed.  Scroll down below the last topic and see the "Display topics from" box.  Click on the down arrow and select the desired time frame.  If you click ALL, you will see all posts ever made under that forum.

  • Q.  The videos on the Travstock page don't download.  Am I doing something wrong?

    • A.  No you aren't.  You must have Real Audio to see the files.  It's a free download and a link is provided.  Once you click on that link, you'll go to the Real Audio page.  There, you'll see lots of ways you can pay for their product, but if you look close enough, there is a link to a free version.  Find it, click it, and install the program.  Now go back and view the Travstock videos.

  • Q.  What are PDF files and how can I use them?

    • A.  myTravco.com has a number of photos or diagrams that are available to you as PDF files.  PDF (portable document format) files are clear, non-alterable images that you can view, print, and save to your hard drive.
