Gulfarium
by Tony Peregoy
After Travstock last summer, our family wanted some "our
time" camping. We headed to the beach four hours away. The
place was named Camping on the Gulf. The place looked great and the sites
were large. We were on the outside row so the back wall was
backed up to the next complex. The camp had beach-front property and
that was just a short walk from our site.
Each
day, we took the kids to the beach to play. We went in short trips to
avoid overexposure to the sun. No one got cooked so we were doing
good. The RV park was packed, and to our surprise, another family from our
home was camping there as well. We are parked at an angle because
the hook-ups at at the very back of the site. Even with our long
electrical cord, we could not reach. But, good news. They had 50 amp
extension cords for only $199. Not! Parked like the picture shows, we were
able to plug in. We always carry our awning/tent and my wife
followed in her car so we could get around. We planned a few outings so we
did need the car.
The
GULFARIUM
One really fun trip for the entire family was the Gulfarium.
I've been to this beach town a zillion times since my high school years. I
had never been to this place. But, we figured it was big fun for the kids
so away we went. If was a mini Sea World with loads of large tanks
and trained aquatic animals. At right, the large main tank had
portholes all around it so you could see into the tank.
While waiting for the next show to start, we toured the
grounds. There were plenty of exhibitis and animals to view. The
kids really enjoyed seeing all of this.

The show was really fun. This was a great way to spend an
afternoon.

We all enjoyed this fun weekend. It was very
relaxing. Although we grilled out most of the time, we did go to a nice
restaurant for seafood one evening. We are planning to do the same
next year.
