Opening Week!
What an amazing week we have had.  Our once chaotic play became a phenomenal production!  Congrats to the entire cast, crew, and the amazing orchestra for creating this truly great show.   The audience is giving rave reviews.

Twilight Takes Note
The Twilight Theatre official email recently noted that The Music Man production is the embodiment of what community theatre is all about:  family, fun, and commitment.  Our many events and dinners are creating a standard future productions will work hard to achieve.  Thank you to this family and to your family.

A Lesson in Stage Direction
In is down, down is front.
Out is up, up is back.
Off is out, on is in.
Left is right and right is left.
A drop shouldn't and a block and fall does neither.
A prop doesn't and a cove has no water.
Tripping is OK.
A running crew rarely gets anywhere.
A purchase line buys you nothing.
A trap will not catch anything.
A gridiron has nothing to do with football.
Strike is work (In fact a lot of work).
And a green room usually isn't.
Now that you're fully versed in
theatre terms, ' Break a leg.'  but not really!

The Uneeda Biscuit
Up to the 1880s, crackers were unbranded and typically sold loose in cracker barrels. But Adolphus Green, who had created the National Biscuit Company through the acquisition of many small bakeries, decided to develop a distinctive, nationally branded product that would take advantage of the manufacturing and marketing strengths of his new company. In 1889, Green hired the N. W. Ayer advertising agency to help develop the new product. After considering and rejecting a variety of names, Green settled on the name Uneeda Biscuit ("biscuit," Green decided, was more elegant than "cracker"). The product would be manufactured in a distinctive octagonal shape and sold in a waterproof wax paper-lined box.

Watermelon Mania!
The hot nights in River City were pleasantly cooled last Tuesday as the watermelon wagon rolled in.  Thank you Denise Leak for providing this cold snack.   I don't believe water- melon has ever been enjoyed so much!

Freeze Pops
A wonderful 'thank you' to Colleen Adams for providing Freeze Pops last Thursday during intermission at Family Night.  The frozen treats hit the mark in the sweltering heat.   The cast thanks all the families that have given treats.

Ice Cream Social, Again!
On Saturday night, the cast enjoyed ice cream, again.  The quartet even came to sing, "Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Ice Cream!"  This week of cool refreshment at intermission was a nice attitude adjustment for everyone!

"You Don't Have To Kiss Me Goodnight"
The song that never made it to the show.

TOMMY
You don't have to kiss me Goodnight, my dear,
There's no obligation at all.
Those two cherry phosphates and the picture show,
Wiped out my allowance with a week to go,
Even so, you don't have to kiss me Goodnight, my dear.
My nerves are all on edge, but that's all right.
That place near the depot, for traveling men,
One shot of beer and I'll forget what might have been.
You may not even know me but we meet again!
Still and all, you don't have to kiss me goodnight.
I really mean it, you don't have to kiss me goodnight.

ZANEETA
No, no, no, wait! Ye Gods!!
I'd like you to kiss me goodnight, my dear.
If that's how you want it to be.
Of course when it's over I'll run away
And try to forget that I have gone astray,
All I say is Yes! You may kiss me goodnight, my dear.
You're much to strong for little me to fight.
I'll live as an outcast, away out there.
A painted fallen girl for whom no man could care.
The kind of scarlet woman who would dye her hair!
Still and all, I'd like you to kiss me goodnight.
I really mean it, I'm waiting, so kiss me goodnight!

TOMMY
No, no, no, no, no, no!
You don't have to kiss me goodnight, my dear
And now I'll be leaving your side.
I'll just smoke a pipe full of morpheme
To help me when the nightmares and the horrors come
Oh save me Billy Sunday!  I'm a homeless bum!
Still and all, you don't have to kiss me.

ZANEETA
I want you to kiss me!

TOMMY
Goodnight, I really mean that!
But if you insist, All right.

(They kiss!)
